When can I bet on TextBet?

If you have a Sterling account with firstbet.com you can place a bet on any 90 Minutes football market or UK & Irish horse racing event. You can also bet on all further markets (such as HT/FT and First Goal Scorer) on UK Premiership, Champions League and all Live televised Scottish and European games (including televised cup competitions such as internationals, UEFA Cup and Domestic cups).

For Football bets you will generally be able to bet at least 48 hours before a game as the system will look for the next game, for instance, on Thursday if you want to bet on Chelsea it will select Chelsea's game on the forthcoming Saturday or Sunday.

Because Racing cards are only available the night before the meeting it is best to place your bet on the same day although major events such as the Derby and Grand National will be available as soon as the runners are known some weeks before. This will also apply to major soccer games such as the FA cup and European Champions Final. For such bets you should send a text that reads :

GRANDNAT HEDGEHUNTER 10 to place a £10 bet on Hedgehunter in the Grand National for example.

What Stakes are available?

The minimum stake is one pound (£1) (when placing a bet you do not need to add the £ symbol) and you can then go up in units of 10p i.e a stake entered as

1.20 = £1.20

Placing a Racing bet by TextBet

Traditionally you would write a betting slip in this way:

Meeting

Race      Horse

Stake

In the same fashion you enter 'meeting, race, horse, stake' when placing a TextBet.

So a traditional betting slip might be:

So you enter a TextBet using r to represent race and h the horse number in the race eg. r2 for race number 2 and h2 for horse number 2 rather than it's name placing a space between each bit of information as follows (you can use upper or lower case):

Lingfield r2 h2 1

Or you can enter the same bet in this way using race time rather than the race number and a 3 letter abbreviation for the meeting:

Lin r2.30 h2 1

As all race courses and football teams have 3 letter abbreviations (ie. Lin for Lingfield or Che for Chelsea).

NB: Although most are obvious some abbreviations have to be modified if there is more than one possibility eg. 'Che' is Cheltenham but Chepstow becomes 'Chw' and Chester becomes 'Cst' and in fooball whilst Manchester United remain 'Man' Manchester City becomes 'Mac' and Blackburn is 'Blr' because of Blackpool ('Blp')

Having sent your TextBet you will then receive a text message as well as an e-mail confirming that the bet has been placed as follows:

To Bet each way simply add a space after your stake and 'ew' to your bet eg:-

To place a double or treble you simply add details of other bets (Race course, Race, horse) leaving the stake until the end as in this treble bet:-

You can do this for different meetings in one bet and for Each-Way bets all you have to do is add ew at the end of the bet:-

Placing a Football bet by TextBet

These are obviously relatively simple as there are are far fewer combinations so typically to bet £1 on Liverpool to win you enter:

you will the receive a text message and e-mail confirming the bet is placed as follows:

Alternatively you can send:

using the abbreviation.

Similarly £1 on Liverpool to draw would be:

you can also bet on the half time result:

to forecast a correct score of say Liverpool to win 2-0 you simply send:

cs Liv 2-0 1

You must specify the winning side (or either for draw). ie you can't do LIV 0-2 to lose 0-2, you must specify the other team wins 2-0.

you can also predict the first or last goal scorer:

OR
lg Man rooney 1
respectively

The 3 letter code for every football team or race course will be on your bet receipt. eg. Liverpool will be Liv on your receipt.
